Crusader Wrestlers Qualify for CCS

SAN JOSE - After facing the challenges of a long and laborious wrestling season, eight varsity wrestlers for Archbishop Riordan earned the right to compete in the Central Coast Section Championships.

On the boys side, five varsity wrestlers did enough at the West Catholic Athletic League Championships on February 7 to qualify for the CCS Regional Championships.

On the girls side, four varsity wrestlers qualified for the CCS Regional Championships with two taking home WCAL titles in their respective weight class.

Of the nine total CCS qualifiers, Georgia Michaelchuk '26 advanced to the placed second her her respective weight class at the CCS Regional Championships this last Saturday at Gunn High School and qualified for the CCS Masters Championships scheduled for February 21 at Watsonville High School.

Varsity Boys Basketball Sets WCAL Record

SAN FRANCISCO - Records continue to be set and milestones met during this impressive era of Archbishop Riordan basketball. 

The Crusaders varsity boys basketball team enters the final week of the regular season with a 22-1 overall record and a perfect 13-0 mark in West Catholic Athletic League play, having clinch at least a share of their fourth consecutive league championship. 

The program's current WCAL winning streak sits at 43 games, having recently set the league record for consecutive victories passing the mark of 38 consecutive WCAL wins set by Archbishop Riordan teams from 1984-1988.

The team closes the regular season this Tuesday at home vs. St. Ignatius at 7 pm before opening the Central Coast Section Open Division playoffs on Friday, February 20.

Riordan Sailing Rises in the Rankings

SAN FRANCISCO - Archbishop Riordan Sailing has moved to 29th of 61 ranked teams in the PCISA district (west coast).

The rankings are based on the first 3-of-5 PCISA regattas. PCISA1 (Sea Otter/Monterey), PCISA2 (Anteater/Newport), and PCISA3 (Rose Bowl/Long Beach).

The top 20 teams, and possibly 21-24, receive invitations to the PCISA Pacific Coast Gold Championships in the Spring.
