Boys Basketball Claims Third Consecutive CCS Open Title
SAN FRANCISCO - It's officially a dynasty.
The Archbishop Riordan boys basketball team made history on Saturday night, defeating St. Ignatius 73-51 at War Memorial Gymnasium at the University of San Francisco becoming the first boys team to win three straight Central Coast Section Open Division championships.
The Crusaders have now won the CCS Open title in four of the last five seasons and on Sunday afternoon it was announced that they are the No. 1 seed in the NorCal Open Division playoffs and will get a first round bye before hosting the winner of the Modesto Christian-De La Salle contest this coming Saturday at the Crusader Forum.
Girls Basketball Reaches CCS Open Final, Prepares for NorCal
SAN FRANCISCO - It wasn't long ago that Archbishop Riordan girls basketball was a brand new entity. Now, the program is among the elite of Northern California.
The Crusaders reached new heights last week, defeating Priory 53-40 on Wednesday to reach the CCS Open Division title game for the first time in program history.
Though they fell in the championship game to Archbishop Mitty, the team's season continues into the state tournament it has earned the No. 2 seed in the NorCal Division I playoffs and will host Bishop O'Dowd on Tuesday at 7 pm at the Crusader Forum.
Varsity Baseball Begins Regular Season with Third-Place Finish at Tamone Memorial Classic
SAN JOSE - It was a solid first week of the regular season for the Archbishop Riordan varsity baseball team.
Solid pitching and clutch hitting were ingredients that helped the Crusaders went 2-1 in placing third at the Ted J. Tamone Memorial Classic.
On Tuesday,
Santino Williams '27 went 2-for-3 with a home run and pitched 4 shutout innings as the Crusaders topped Santa Teresa 7-4. After a 3-1 loss on Thursday to Wilcox the team rebounded with a 4-1 victory over Santa Clara. In the victory,
Keoni Ordonez '26 pitched 5 innings, striking out 8 and allowing just 1 run.
Logan Tuman '26 picked up saves for the Crusaders in both of the victories.
